A holographic will is a will that you handwrite and do not have signed in front of a witness. While this is not the best way to go about making a will, holographic wills are legal in about half the states. Nevertheless, even then, the will must be written, dated, and signed by the person making the will. Holographic wills might be alright if you have very little to leave after you die, but they are certainly not recommended – holographic wills often face legitimacy issues.
