Fair Labor Standards Act Definition

Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) – the Federal Labor Standards Act sets the criteria to determine which employees are entitled to overtime. Generally, unless an employee is exempted from FLSA's overtime provisions, he or she must be paid one-and-a-half times his or her regular hourly rate for any hour exceeding the 40 hour workweek.
